Digital Design Workshops
I created and led a series of digital design workshops for Pomona College’s “The Hive” in the fall of 2020. The workshops taught students a variety of skills and techniques in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.

I was given full creative control to design and execute a series of workshops that I felt were meaningful and engaging, and I ran with it. Each workshop was designed to be an immersive educational and creative experience in the world of digital design.
I wanted the workshops to be an immersive and engaging synchronous experience, but also wanted to ensure that the learning extended beyond the workshop into the students’ lives. To help make this happen, I designed PDF guides for each workshop - created to be a fun, visually engaging document students could return back to after the workshop if they wanted to use a skill we learned but forgot a step or a detail.
After every workshop, we sent a survey to the students that attended, to gather feedback and make the next workshop even stronger. The surveys were anonymous, to encourage full honesty. We asked students to describe how they felt after attending the workshop, in one word. Below are some of the words we got back:
Fun! — Motivated — knowledgeable
Excited — hopeful! — STOKED
inspired! — refreshed — happy
Some examples of student work (all of these were created in 10-20 minutes during the workshop):
